How we write this guide
What counts as evidence here, and how we turn it into plain English without overstating it.
The order we trust sources in
- UK public bodiesThe NHS, GOV.UK and the General Dental Council for safety, rights and what to ask.
- UK dental charitiesThe Oral Health Foundation for plain-English descriptions of treatments.
- Published researchSystematic reviews first, then single studies. For example, our figures on how long ceramic veneers last come from reviews of thousands of veneers, not from one clinic's records.
- ManufacturersOnly for what a material is, never for how good it is.
- Our own experienceClearly labelled as the clinic's view.
How we report research
We give the figure, the follow-up time and the type of study. "About 95% of porcelain veneers were still in place after 10 years in a review of 25 studies" tells you more than "veneers last for decades". Where studies disagree or are small, we say so.
How we show prices
Every price on this site is Precious Dental's own published price, labelled with the month. Prices live in one place in our build system, so a change updates every page at once. We do not quote other clinics' prices on this site.
How we separate veneers from crowns
Many "veneer" offers are crowns. On this site a veneer is always a thin shell bonded to the front of a tooth, and a crown is always a cap that covers the whole tooth. Prices, pictures and guarantees follow the same rule. See veneers or crowns?
Review and updates
A dentist reviews each medical page before publication. Pages show when they were last updated. See our editorial policy and corrections.
Not sure what your teeth need?
Send us a few photos of your smile. A dentist looks at them and tells you plainly whether you need veneers, crowns, whitening, bonding, or nothing at all.
