How it works: veneers in Turkey from start to finish

The whole process in one place: what happens before you book, during the visit and after you get home.

Short answer

You send photos and get a dentist's written opinion. If you go ahead, you get a tooth-by-tooth plan and price. In Antalya you have an examination and X-ray, the plan is confirmed, teeth are prepared, the veneers or crowns are made and fitted, and you fly home with your records and guarantee. Most veneer trips take about a week.

Before you book

  1. 1. Send photosA few clear photos of your smile from the front and sides, and a line about what bothers you. How to take useful photos.
  2. 2. Get a written opinionA dentist says what they think each tooth needs: veneer, crown, bonding, whitening or nothing, and why.
  3. 3. Get a written plan and priceTooth by tooth, with the material, the total price, what is included, the number of nights and the guarantee.
  4. 4. See your UK dentistA check-up and clean before the trip finds decay or gum problems that would change the plan. Getting your teeth ready.
  5. 5. Book the tripFlights are usually booked by you; the hotel and transfers are often part of the package.

In Antalya

  1. ArrivalYou are met at the airport and taken to the hotel.
  2. Examination and X-rayThe dentist examines your teeth, takes an X-ray and confirms or changes the plan. Nothing is prepared until you agree in writing.
  3. Design and preparationThe shape and shade are agreed. Teeth are prepared and scanned, and you wear temporary teeth while the final ones are made. See what temporaries are like.
  4. Try-inThe new teeth are checked for fit, shape and colour before they are bonded. This is the moment to speak up.
  5. Fitting and bite checkThe veneers or crowns are bonded, the bite is adjusted and the edges polished.
  6. A final checkUsually a day or two later, to look at the gums and the bite after the swelling of preparation has gone.

The day-by-day version of the trip is on the veneers trip.

Back home

  • Take your records: the X-ray, the plan, the material and shade used, and the guarantee.
  • Expect a few days of settling in: mild sensitivity and a new feel when you speak. The first two weeks.
  • Keep your check-ups: your UK dentist and hygienist can look after veneers like any other teeth.
  • If something goes wrong, contact the clinic with photos first. See if a veneer comes off.

At Precious Dental a veneer package is one visit and includes the hotel, transfers and a panoramic X-ray. Prices are on our cost page. Start by sending photos on WhatsApp.

What to send for a first opinion

  • A front photo smiling broadly, in daylight
  • Photos from each side, and one with your teeth together
  • Any recent X-rays from your UK dentist
  • A short note: what bothers you, what you'd like, any health conditions and medicines

What you pay, and when

Your package price is set out in writing before you book, and is confirmed at your examination in Antalya, before any tooth is prepared. If the examination finds something that changes the plan, such as decay or gum disease, you are told and given the new price before anything is done. Flights are booked and paid by you.

Who you will talk to

Most people start on WhatsApp because it is easy to send photos. At most clinics a patient coordinator looks after dates, the hotel and transfers. Questions about your teeth should be answered by a dentist, and the plan should come from a dentist who has looked at your photos and, later, examined you. If you want to know who that is, ask.

If you change your mind

Nothing irreversible happens until your teeth are prepared, and that only happens after you have agreed the plan at the examination. Up to that point you can stop, ask for more time or choose a gentler option. Read risks and regrets before you book, so you know which questions to ask.

Common questions

How long before I can travel?

Once you have a written plan, the timing is up to you. Many people book flights two to six weeks ahead. Check your passport and the GOV.UK travel advice for Turkey before you book.

Do I need one trip or two?

Veneers and crowns are usually done in one visit of about a week. Implants are different and need two trips.

What if I change my mind after the examination?

You should not be charged for treatment you have not had. Ask the clinic what happens to any deposit before you pay it.

What happens if there is a problem when I am home?

Contact the clinic first, with photos. Many problems, such as a rough edge, can be checked from photos. Others may need a UK dentist or a return visit, depending on the guarantee terms.

An honest second look

Not sure what your teeth need?

Send us a few photos of your smile. A dentist looks at them and tells you plainly whether you need veneers, crowns, whitening, bonding, or nothing at all.
